City of Destin COMPASS Updates to Take Place

Effective February 14th, the City of Destin’s new version of COMPASS (COMmunity Permitting and Support System) will be going live as a cloud-based system. This migration from on-premises system to a SaaS (Software as a Service) will improve performance and reliability of the city’s permitting, licensing and code compliance system.

To make the system-wide upgrade, COMPASS will be offline beginning Thursday, February 9th at 4 p.m. until the morning of Tuesday, February 14th. During this time, the system will be unavailable as the core system is migrated offsite and over to the newest version of the software.

Users will maintain their current username and password after the migration. However, if a site has been bookmarked, it will be necessary to bookmark it again using www.cityofdestin.com/compass.
“This upgrade is a huge step forward to migrate the system to the latest version and into the cloud,” said Webb Warren, Deputy City Manager. This upgrade will improve system performance and provide the best platform for staff to continue to improve and expand the functionality of COMPASS for our residents and businesses.”

“Community Development Staff is excited to provide continuous improvement of our software and services,” said Louis Zunguze, Community Development Director. “In this new version, there are a couple of new features that we hope will enhance the user experience: ‘My Work’ and ‘Today’s Inspections’. These features provide a quick and easy way to access current information relating to your COMPASS records.”
