HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital recently celebrated a major milestone in the construction of its new HCA Florida DeFuniak Springs Emergency facility with a topping-off ceremony, marking the completion of the structure’s highest point.

The event, held on Nov. 17, brought together local leaders, including Bob Campbell, Mayor of DeFuniak Springs; Koby Townsend, City Manager; and several city council members, along with other first responders, community stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and project partners to commemorate this significant step forward in expanding emergency care access in the region.

“Our team is looking forward to bringing around-the-clock high-quality emergency care into the heart of Walton County delivered by board-certified physicians,” said Todd Jackson, chief executive officer of HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital. “HCA Florida DeFuniak Springs Emergency also seamlessly connects to our broader HCA Florida Healthcare network, meaning the Walton County community can count on expert local care backed by the added strength and resources of our statewide network.”

Located on 160 Twin Springs Way, DeFuniak, the 11,570 square-foot, $19 million ER is slated to open in early January 2026. The facility will provide 24/7 full-service emergency care to residents of DeFuniak Springs, and surrounding Walton County communities.

The freestanding emergency room will be staffed with board certified emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals providing specialized emergency care for patients of all ages, including children. The facility will include 10 private emergency patient care rooms, a trauma/cardiopulmonary resuscitation room, CT scan, digital X-ray and an on-site laboratory.

Once operational, the ER is expected to employ approximately 35 full-time healthcare professionals, enhancing local job growth and reinforcing HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital commitment to serving the healthcare needs of the growing Walton County population.
