The Northwest Florida Ballet (NFB) Académie is now taking audition appointment reservations for third and fourth-grade students to complete the remainder of the 2025-2026 academic year. All auditions will take place at the NFB Studios, the Sybil Lebherz Center for Dance Education, located at 310 Perry Avenue SE in Fort Walton Beach, on Sat., Dec. 6, beginning at 10 a.m.
Students in third grade are not required to have prior dance training, while fourth-grade students must have one year of formal ballet training. All dancers are evaluated on basic flexibility, rhythm and coordination. Enthusiasm and a genuine interest in dance are significant factors in the tryout process. Audition registration is required in advance by 2 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 4 and must be made using the grade level appropriate online form available at www.NFBallet.org/Auditions. Upon registering, dancers will be assigned to a group of 10. The Dec. 6 auditions will take approximately 20 minutes, and parents must remain in the building during the auditions.
Celebrating more than two decades of excellence, the NFB Académie is a free, integrated arts and academic program for third through eighth-grade boys and girls who demonstrate the potential to excel in dance. Certified Okaloosa County school teachers ensure rigorous educational training. In addition to their regular academic classes, students selected for the program will have concentrated daily instruction in ballet and weekly instruction in art, music and French. The NFB Académie is a nationally acclaimed program recognized as an A+ school since its inception.
