NWFSC and FAMU Announce Articulation Agreement for Pharmacy Students

On June 4, 2024, Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) signed an articulation agreement that creates streamlined educational pathways for students aspiring to enter the field of pharmacy.  The agreement was signed during a press conference at the FAMU College of Pharmacy campus in Crestview, Florida.

This collaboration, focusing on an Associate of Arts (AA) pathway, provides a structured and supportive route for students beginning their academic journey at NWFSC to eventually be considered for the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at FAMU. The NWFSC curriculum is meticulously aligned with the requirements needed to enter the PharmD program at FAMU, ensuring that students receive a foundational education in general sciences, mathematics, and other prerequisite courses essential for a career in pharmacy.

Through this partnership, NWFSC and FAMU are addressing the growing need for well-trained pharmacists. Pharmacists play a crucial role in healthcare, and by facilitating the education of future pharmacists, this partnership helps meet the demand for healthcare professionals in various settings, such as hospitals, community pharmacies, and research institutions.

"This articulation agreement marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing accessible and high-quality educational pathways for all students," said NWFSC President Dr. Devin Stephenson. "This collaboration not only enhances educational outcomes but also addresses the critical need for skilled healthcare professionals in our communities. We are excited to see the positive impact this will have on the future of pharmacy and healthcare across Florida."
