Okaloosa County has completed the annual report for the Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) that was adopted in 2021 by the County and municipalities.
The LMS includes a comprehensive analysis of the County’s and municipalities’ floodplain areas and floodplain management strategies, as well as a review of all other hazards by which the County is threatened. The LMS is revised every five years as required by the federal Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (amended by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000).
An annual report is required each year by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for counties to review the existing LMS and make any necessary revisions.
The 2023 annual report denotes that no new projects and no revisions have been made to the programs and strategies of the 2021 LMS.
