The Okaloosa County Clerk of Court’s Office is pleased to announce Brad Embry as the new Chief of Staff. Brad was promoted from Inspector General to the position of Chief of Staff by the Honorable JD Peacock.
As the Chief of Staff, Brad is responsible for proactively providing professional-level support to the Clerk. He maintains awareness of state and local issues, and any legislation with the potential to impact the office. He acts as the liaison between the Clerk and employees, management, the public, and all other stakeholders.
Brad has been with the Okaloosa County Clerk’s office for 8 years and has over 24 years of public service in Okaloosa County. He spent the first 15 years of his career working for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in various capacities including uniform patrol, traffic enforcement, youth services, and investigations.
Brad transitioned into the role of Special Agent within the major crimes division of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) Pensacola Regional Operations Center (PROC) prior to his employment with the Clerk’s Office. Brad joined the Okaloosa County Clerk of Court as an Investigator and Auditor for the newly formed Department of Inspector General in 2015. Brad was promoted to Inspector General in 2018. During this time, he planned, executed, and reported audits while conducting investigations relating to potential fraud, waste, and abuse of public resources. Brad is responsible for successfully leading the Okaloosa County Department of Inspector General accreditation through the Florida Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation in 2017, 2020, and 2023.
Brad holds a Master’s degree in Administration with a specialization in Acquisitions and Contracts Management from the University of West Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University along with a minor in Psychology. Adding to his already extensive background, Brad holds certifications as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Inspector General, Certified Inspector General Investigator, Certified Inspector General Auditor, and Certified Economic Crime Forensic Examiner.
