Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) will appoint a citizen to the Okaloosa Gas District Board of Directors to represent the interests of the unincorporated areas of the County and non-member cities. Applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022 via email to

Citizens who wish to be considered for appointment to the Okaloosa Gas District Board of Directors should go to
https://myokaloosa.com/citizen-councils/home to review the Policy, Complete an Application Packet and begin the Background Check process. The minimum requirements for this appointment, as outlined in Chapter 2021-262, Laws of Florida, and by BCC policy are:
• The citizen must have three (3) years minimum residency in an unincorporated area of Okaloosa County; and
• The citizen must be a current customer of Okaloosa Gas.
House Bill 1637; Chapter 2000-443, reestablished and re-created the Okaloosa Gas District as an independent special district. As such the Okaloosa Gas District is separate and independent from the BCC, although one member of the Board of Directors is appointed by the BCC. The public and governmental purposes of the Gas District are to acquire by purchase or construction, one or both, and to own, finance, operate, maintain, extend, and improve one or more gas systems. Appointee will serve a four-year term, beginning immediately upon appointment.
