Students from across the District participated in the annual "Change for Children" fundraiser campaign for Children in Crisis (CIC), Inc. The CIC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of caring people who provide homes to our community's abused, neglected, and abandoned children and keep siblings together. The Change for Children Campaign began in 2007 to raise funds in the Okaloosa County schools to help provide food, clothing, and school supplies for the children living in the Children in Crisis Neighborhood.
The campaign gives students unique opportunities to learn the value of giving back and helping less fortunate children. School sponsors conduct creative, fun, and often competitive ways to collect change, such as Talent Shows, class competitions, and Pie the Principal. The retired teacher chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary educational sorority, facilitates this campaign. Students from nineteen schools brought change to help support the mission of the CIC. Students raised nearly $23,000, and the top fundraising schools were:
